Link to Westport Volunteer Opportunities
Westport and Weston are great communities, in large part because of dedicated volunteers who participate in the activities of not-for-profit and local government organizations. In the spirit of “Giving Back” to our communities, the Y’s Men are actively engaged in many of these volunteer activities on both an individual and group basis through Y’s Men sponsored opportunities. We welcome any and all Y’s Men to join us in volunteering. We do not have a regular meeting time. Instead, we help out at various organization that need us for a few hours. We announce new initiatives and projects at our weekly meetings and ask for volunteers at that time. Many Y’s Men also volunteer at individual non-profits on their own, such as at the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport. If you hear of any projects or organizations that might need our help from time to time, please let me know.
Some of our past activities include:
- Crossing Guard Duty at Thursday Meetings
- Westport Clean-Up Day (April) – Baldwin Parking Lot
- Westport Library Book Sale(s):
- moving and sorting
- set up / take down of facilities
- VFW Monthly Blood Donation Event:
- set up / take down equipment
- donor welcome and intake (non-medical info)
- donor escort
- Town of Westport Human Services Department:
- Youth Mentoring
- Center for Senior Activities meal distribution
- Suit Drive (gently used suits that might help someone get a job)
And we are interested to hear about other community service volunteer opportunities!
